Choosing the Right Window Glazing for You

While there are three types of glazing to choose from, it’s sometimes hard to know what’s right for you. So to help out, here are the options we offer and where they work best.

  • Double glazing - An all-rounder with the most styles customisations available, can fit every room in nearly every home.
  • Triple glazing - Best in cold rooms that get little sunlight. Could be too warm in south-facing rooms. Mix and match with double glazing for best year-round comfort.
  • Secondary glazing - Fit behind existing windows, more affordable choice. Perfect for homes in conservation areas and listed buildings where replacement isn’t possible.

A simple, efficient process

At Safestyle, our customers tell us time and again how pleased they are with our range of high-quality windows and doors. To achieve this, these five steps ensure we maintain our quality manufacturing and fitting on every order:

You decide to place an order. Initial dimensions are recorded on the order form before a professional surveyor measures it accurately, double checking all details.
Once the surveyor has completed their measuring up the details are then sent to our UK based factory where production of your order begins.

Order Processing carefully input every detail into our computerised system, which is then sent electronically, direct to our self sufficient manufacturing facility for manufacture. All raw materials are on site ensuring your order is processed quickly and efficiently. Your order is made using state of the art machinery and skilled craftsman, playing close attention at every stage – individually crafting each frame for you.

Our specialist glass department prepares each unit to your exact specification including the in-house production of toughened glass ensuring optimum precision and quality. After cutting, every pane is checked cleaned, assembled and then fully sealed by robotic process. Intricate lead designs are produced by our highly skilled lead shop team.

Once your order is complete, it is delivered to your future home using our own transport fleet where every item is checked, and all furniture is fitted on site. Our fitters prepare the work area before safely and carefully removing the old windows and doors. Your brand-new bespoke energy efficient products are then installed and internally beaded for security.

Each window is sealed and finished with internal trim reducing the need for decoration before we tidy up. During the installation you will receive a call from our Quality Control Department and again at the end to make sure the installation has been completed to your satisfaction.

Window Glazing Guides & Advice

Window Glazing FAQs

Window glazing is the glass section that goes into a window frame. It can refer to different types of glazing, including double glazing, triple glazing and secondary glazing. In the case of double and triple glazing, window glazing can refer to the sealed glazed unit. This consists of two or three panes of glass, divided by a spacer bar, with the void filled with argon gas and sealed.

How much double glazing costs per window mostly depends on the size, style and frame material of the window. Other factors that might increase the cost of a single window include specialist or decorative glazing. Extra building work might also increase the cost of a single window, if you have a broken lintel or if you are switching window styles for example.

A glazing bead is a strip of uPVC, wood or aluminium that secures a glass pane to a window sash or door leaf. Glazing beads not only add to the security of a window but also make sure the panes don’t rattle. Our glazing beads are added to the inside of the glass, meaning any would-be intruder would find it very difficult to remove the glass from the outside.

The different types of window glazing are double glazing, triple glazing and secondary glazing. Double glazing is probably the most popular and common within the UK. Triple glazing is becoming more popular among homeowners with the ever increasing need to improve energy efficiency in the home. Secondary glazing sits behind existing windows and is the more affordable option, as well as being ideal for homes where replacement is not possible such as some conservation areas and listed buildings.
