20 year old windows can still be good, provided they’ve been taken care of and were good quality in the first place. Even then, 20 years ago there were different minimum regulations for energy efficiency. Window technology has moved on a lot and windows made today are often much better than ones installed 20 years ago.
There aren’t really any windows that are outdated, it depends on your perspective. A lot of old windows are even copied like sash windows and flush casement windows. Designs that have been around for hundreds of years are constantly being refined and reinvented to be more energy efficient and secure than their older counterparts.
Depending on the complexity of the job, most window installations only take a day. If you have a lot of windows or need things like lintel replacements or other construction work, it will likely take longer, but no more than a few days.
