You can replace a door without replacing the frame but this really isn’t advisable. Your new door won’t fit the new frame perfectly, leaving gaps that can let in draughts and water. A door that isn’t fitted properly can also be less secure, with locks not meeting completely, leaving your home more vulnerable to would-be intruders. Replacing the door and the frame together is the best way to ensure your door works exactly as it should.
Door installation only takes a day! This is so long as you don’t need any complicated work done like lintel replacement or other construction work. Obviously because your door is the main entrance to your home, it needs to be secure, so most companies aim to install doors on the same day to ensure your home is secure.
You can install a door yourself, but unless you have strong DIY skills it isn’t advisable. Installing a new door requires getting your measurements right, removing the old door and the frame and replacing it with the new set. It can all get a bit complicated and unless you are absolutely confident you should get it fitted by a professional. Otherwise you could potentially damage your home and the new door and end up with a bigger bill than you had in the first place.
